Sister is Manchester’s new innovation district. A £1.7bn investment into the city, its setting – the former University of Manchester North Campus and UMIST site – is steeped in science and engineering history.
Sister is a joint venture between The University of Manchester and Bruntwood SciTech. The project will see the transformation of the University’s former North campus into a new 4 million sq ft innovation district, a centre for science and technology.
Alt Fire were appointed to work on the refurbishment of the Pariser Building, which has been refurbished to provide rented commercial accommodation on a meanwhile use basis.
We developed the Fire Safety Strategy that enabled the use of existing workshop areas as a research and development space (Kraken’s energy tech superhub). The tenancy partially occupied the building therefore the fire strategy was developed taking into consideration the potential that currently vacant areas may become occupied.
Alt Fire were later appointed to develop the Fire Strategy for further areas within the Pariser Building, areas where additional tenants and activations were brought onboard.
